2012 was the year cycling became visibly popular with the emergence of the MAMIL – Middle Aged Man In Lycra! But what about the women, where are they?
CTC Winchester runs regular rides in and around Winchester for varying levels of ability and would love to see more women out on their rides. However, they acknowledge that it can be quite a daunting prospect to join a group of regular cyclists for the first time.
Sunday 30th June 2013 - Hungerford Hurrah 200km and Hungerford Hooray 140km
As you know, I am not organising the Winton 200 km and 100 km this year but we have brand new events and a brand new organiser. The events follow much of old Winton routes.
A change of start location means the rides no longer visit Winchester and therefore the events have new names. The Hungerford Hurrah 200km route follows much of the old Winton 200 km route whereas the Hungerford Hooray at 140km is a new event that follows the same route as the 200km to Hungerford before taking a more direct route back to base. It offers a step-up in distance to those riders perhaps aiming to build up to a 200km event, or just wanting to make the most of the long summer days.
