Dear Member,

In Summer 2007, CTC Council adopted new policies governing the activities of what were at that time a loose set of formal and informal groupings. The main purpose was to rationalise the structure, referring to all of the permanent, rider groups by the consistent term "group" and to distinguish clearly between formal and informal groups. These policies are contained in in the "Policy Handbook for CTC Member Groups and Organising Committees" See http://www.ctc.org.uk/resources/Go_Biking_with_CTC/PolicyHandbookforgroupsV2.9.pdf

The two former "sections" within South Hampshire (Winchester and Southampton) have decided to become formal member groups in their own right with the former "DA" retaining financial control. The Hares and Tortoises will become an informal group within the Southampton group and the Winchester Easy Riders an informal group within the Winchester group

This means that we need to amend the current DA Rules to reflect this change and also to ensure that CTC South Hampshire complies with the policies in this Handbook.

A sub-group of the DA Committee has produced draft amendments to the existing rules for consideration at the AGM on 30 October. – see attached. In the interests of an efficient and businesslike meeting on Thursday 30 October (at the Conservative Club, Romsey) please take the time to read these carefully now – you may wwish to suggest further changes. Once these rules have been approved, the two former sections of Winchester and Southampton will need to amend their rules.

If you would like to discuss the draft please contact one of the sub-group of Bob Damper, Jim Deeley and Sue Coles
