The Cyclists' Touring Club

The Cyclists' Touring Club is Britain's largest national cycling organisation, promoting recreational and utility cycling. The club was founded in 1878, and now has over 40,000 members throughout the UK and overseas, about 200 local groups and a further 200 independent affiliated groups. The C.T.C. provides touring and technical advice, legal aid and insurance to members, and campaigns to improve facilities and opportunities for all cyclists. The bi-monthly club magazine, Cycletouring and Campaigning, contains many articles of interest to cyclists.

The South Hampshire CTC.

The South Hampshire CTC has two sections: Southampton and Winchester.

Winchester Section Program

The following are the types of rides organized by the section. See the current runs list for details.

  • easy on-road ride at leisurely pace usually 2nd Saturday in each month,

  • General Sunday rides at faster pace: 1/2 day or full day. If full day ride it incorporates a 1/2 day group who ride with group for part of morning normally with a stop for coffee and arrive back in Winchester by lunchtime.

Southampton Section Program

The section organizes day rides and these start at 9am unless stated. See the current runs list for details.

ROMSEY "HARES & TORTOISES" CYCLING GROUP 

A group for those who see themselves as hares who prefer to sleep in the sun, or determined tortoises.

Meet at Palmerston's statue, Romsey at 10am on 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month. 

The group will be led at an average of 10 mph on flattish  terrain with hills riden at each individual's own pace or walked if necessary.
